This piece was executed to be exposed in the Historical Museum of Guanabacoa, and it was displayed in the Havana’s Biennial while the installation was being exhibited in the Visual Arts Development Center in Havana’s downtown.
The documentary is an audiovisual piece that is longer than the video of the installation. It was conceived not only as work of art, but also as an industrial memory record of Guanabacoa’s district in the Havana. It is a document that gathers stories, knowledge, works; basically, recent ways of life that no longer exist due to the almost total disappearance of the industrial heritage in this district and that need to be remembered, preserved and valued for future generations.
This initiative recaptures the district’s industrial past for Guanabacoa’s Museum, independently from the colonial past and the religious ethnology that already took part in the Museum.
